Slingshot Aerospace's revolutionary AI system, Agatha, has been selected as a nominee for Via Satellite’s 2024 Satellite Technology of the Year Award.
Agatha is a first-of-its-kind AI application that Slingshot developed, in partnership with DARPA, to simultaneously evaluate data from thousands of satellites and identify suspicious outliers. Critically, Agatha indicates why individual satellites differ, which helps predict their intention.
“Agatha is a groundbreaking AI system that is already solving critical space domain awareness challenges for federal, defense, and commercial satellite operators,” said Tim Solms, CEO of Slingshot Aerospace. “We thank Via Satellite for recognizing Agatha’s contributions to the space industry and congratulate the other 2024 Technology of the Year nominees on this tremendous achievement.”
The types of minute differences Agatha can identify would be undetectable to a human analyst or previous technologies - especially across thousands of satellites simultaneously. As the space domain continues to become more contested, the actionable insights Agatha derives will help satellite operators make urgent decisions with confidence.
Satellite Technology of the Year nominees are chosen based on their ability to meet significant market demand, create considerable cost-savings or technical efficiencies, make a profit, improve quality of life, disrupt the market, and/or demonstrate a scientific breakthrough.
“There were so many incredible technical achievements in the satellite industry in 2024, demonstrating the rapid pace of innovation in space. The Via Satellite Team received more high-quality submissions for Satellite Technology of the Year than ever before. Now, we are excited to announce our crop of nominees this year,” said Rachel Jewett, Senior Managing Editor, Via Satellite.
The winner of the 2024 Satellite Technology of the Year will be determined by a combination of the Via Satellite editorial team and votes that come directly from industry. The public can vote for Agatha online.
Voting closes at noon ET on March 11. For more information on the award, or to vote for Agatha, please visit https://www.satellitetoday.com/vote.
